It’s been at least 5 years since I worked for IBM, but even when I was there, we had an internal, approved instant messenger client (actually there were two versions), employees were allowed to have (and provided with) internal blogs, and there was even a ‘employee world jam’ every once and a while where the employees got to join in a gigantic global discussion about IBM.
That part was great… too bad they decided to fire everyone and move their jobs overseas I left before that happened.
